Fenugreek or Methi leaves are a favourite ingredient in Indian and are often combined with vegetables such as spinach, potato or yam. Aloo-methi (potato-methi leaves) is a favorite winter season stew in Pakistan and the Indian states of Punjab, Bihar, and Rajasthan. The fresh leaves are also used in soups, curries, and cooked in rice dishes like pulao, methi-rice, etc. Fenugreek greens are an important ingredient in vegetable and dal (pulses) dishes eaten in India. Description
The fenugreek plant is a legume with aroma, which is used for food in the form of its seeds as spices, and its leaves as a vegetable. It is also used as a medicinal herb in several Ayurvedic formulations for treatment of dry skin, boils, hair loss and so forth.
