Tips:
Eye irritation whilst cutting onions can be avoided by storing the onions in the fridge before cutting.
Onions are otherwise better stored at room temperature, optimally in a single layer, in a dry, cool, dark, well-ventilated location. In this environment, onions have a shelf life of three to four weeks and sweet onions one to two weeks. Onions will draw moisture from vegetables with which they are stored which may cause the onions to decay.
